Cora Weiss of East Hampton and New York, an activist who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize several times, died of lymphoma in New York City on Dec. 8.. Each summer Cora and Peter Weiss returned to the Vineyard to both recharge and continue their work of promoting peace around the world. "Watching the sun set over the Vineyard Sound with our father, family and friends was Cora's happy place," her daughter Tamara, a 30-year long resident of Chilmark, told the Gazette.

Peter Weiss (USA) was a leading force in the lawyers' movement against nuclear weapons, and a key player in two notable IPB projects. He contributed to IPB as speaker and active participant in conferences, and through his partnership with our former President Cora Weiss.. Cora Weiss (née Rubin; October 2, 1934 - December 8, 2025) was an American human rights activist. Through her membership and subsequent leadership of Women Strike for Peace, she organised demonstrations against the Vietnam War and nuclear weapons throughout the 1960s.
