After phasing out the original Mark I combo, Mesa Boogie introduced a series of Mark II amps between 1978 and 1985 (when the Mark III launched). The Mark II was much like the Mark I in design and layout but with somewhat different circuitry. The Mark series progressed from the regular Mark I to t.. The Mesa Boogie Mark II was introduced in 1978. It was the first ever guitar amplifier to feature channel switching, or more specifically, Mode Switching, as denoted by its patent application. The Mark IIB was released in 1980, and it was the first guitar amplifier with a buffered effects loop. It was later offered in Simul-Class versions.
