5800 Photo 1742120 UK Audio Mart

I purchased the Adcom GFA 5800 after my Marantz model 510 power amp. calledit a day after 20 years of faithful service. I am presently using the 5800 with Bose 901 series VI speakers, which can handle lots of power. The adcom can really rock the Bose's to incredible sound levels with narry a complaint or feeling of harshness.. It has been quite a few years since I spent a considerable amount of time auditioning the Adcom 5800, but I do recall it was a very nice power amp. Sonically it was smooth, detailed, and dynamic. It introduced a new generation of Adcom amps that were a solid improvement in sound quality compared with the firm's earlier efforts.

As a recent owner of the Adcom GFA-5800 I've developed some strong opinions of the sound. The amp is partnered with the adcom gtp-750 pre and B&W 801's. As I have not heard my respective components partnered with anything else. I'm wondering if my "opinions" of the amp are accurate or have to do completely or in part with the partnered components.. It's predecessor, the GFA-5800 is also highly regarded. A very, very similar circuit just 50 watts power.. Big Adcom fan here, I've got 3 amps, 4 pre-amps, and 2 tuners made by the company. I have found Adcom gear to offer excellent sound quality, great build quality, and outstanding value, especially when you consider the price..
