Damage hullmods (d-mods) are hull modifications that represent lasting damage to a ship hull. They impose a range of negative aspects on those hulls as well as a few positives. Ships used by pirates start with d-mods built-in. Ships destroyed in battle & recovered in the post-battle recovery commonly have at least one d-mod. It is possible for a ship to be destroyed & recovered without.. Damage hullmods (d-mods) are hull modifications that represent lasting damage to a ship hull. Each d-mod inflicts some negative stat changes on the affected ship, but these penalties tend to also come with benefits like making the ship cheaper to purchase or reducing its deployment supply costs.
The only thing that has been really bugging me is D mods. I think the system for ship hulls getting D mods is good and makes sense but removing them less so. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that removing D mods costs more than buying a brand new version of the ship and really pushes me away from recovering anything.. Hey ! You can remove D-mods. One way is to simply pay for it - there is an icon in the refit menu, but it is very expensive, especially early on, and really mostly an option to polish your chosen flagship, or for pather frigates. The other one is a (very good) tier 4 industry skill. I often aim for it as my first major skill. My early game tip is to specialize you ship loadouts if you're going.
