A quest to kill Floki would be worse than a quest to kill Askeladd for Thorfinn. Floki is in higher command of the Jomsvikings. Look at it from the character's eyes, Askeladd is a selfish man and we know that he will use Thorfinn to kill people that get in his way because he knows how to manipulate Thorfinn.. Thorfinn declares that he knows the king personally and that if they tell him his name, the king will surely recognize it. The big soldier before him hits Thorfinn but doesn't bring him down.

Does Thorfinn kill floki? Yes, in the 3rd major arc Thorfinn finds out that Floki was the one who ordered Askeladd to kill Thors. This led to Thorfinn feeling very conflicted on his belief of no violence but he does clap Floki's cheeks w/o killing him and disbands the Jomsvikings.. After discovering Floki was the cause of his father's death, Thorfinn became overwhelmed with rage and dismembered Floki's fingers. He refrained from killing him, instead destroying his sword.
